Journal Van Tries Serial part 7    a work of fiction by Tim R. Francis   Lorain, Ohio 44052

                                                             The Attack                                                                     pg 1

My name is Johnathan Van Tries and this is my story.........
Today is January the 23rd 2010, The will is to be read in 5 days, one can only imagine what the reading of the second half of Aunt Ks will entails, the first part was read a few weeks after her untimely and rather mysterious death in 1976, and now 34 years later we are all summoned back to cleveland for what we are told is a reading of another section of the will.

The townspeople which I have met so far seem to have a fear among them, a fear of what I do not know.  Some however, seem to have a sadness about them, why I wonder are the people in this neighborhood sad and some frightened? I have a feeling that Dr. Kilborne is behind a lot of the fear and rumors being spread about the town. The man seems to be full of instigation, it appears to me as if he wants to be the center of attention a man who wants to control others as in Regina Mason.

I am looking out the window this morning watching the sunrise, it is 6:45 am, I woke early so I could jog down to the local convenience store and pick up a newspaper, I feel a need to keep up on the happenings of this fair city.  Once home I grabbed a coffee , it seems to calm my nerves, that and a shot of
old grandads special brew which I brought with me from pennsylvania.  Well lets see what the headlines are for today I said to myself . I noticed there was quite a hub of activity near the rack where the paper was kept.

I unfolded the paper and began to read the headline on the front page .........

                  ATTACKER STRIKES AGAIN

MENTOR WOODS WILLOW PARK SCENE OF SECOND ATTACK

MENTOR, OHIO      Mentor Woods Townships Willow Park was the scene of a second attack
last evening around 11:30 pm.   A newlywed couple were out for a stroll along
the beach with their dog when the dog became irritable and began to bark and                                       growl. The young couple not noticing anything at first attempted to calm their dog
when the dog broke away from them and ran towards the woods barking, as the
young man approached the dog and reached out to grab his leash, something
lunged from the woods at the man. The mans wife began to scream and picked up
a rock and threw it at the attacker, as she threw another rock ,their dog lunged at
their attacker, the woman reached into her coat pocket for a taser which she kept                                     with her.   Between the taser and the dogs unrelentless bites to the attacker, it broke                                     off its attack and moved towards the woman, she immediately increased the power
of the taser.  The attacker stood there in front of her as she describes it ....
"This thing came out of the woods and attacked my husband nearly killing him,
I would have to estimate its height as a little over 6 feet 5 inches tall with a weight of
about 200 pounds, it had huge arms with bear like hands, claws covered with hair
and dressed like a man, its teeth were long and looked like razors, stained with my                                    husbands blood, its face was very grotesque he seemed to speak in a mans voice
for a brief moment, the face looked almost like a face of a buffalo  and hands like that
                                   of a bear..........

I put the paper down, enough I thought, I do not appreciate someone or something trying to profit from anothers tragedy, I have nothing but disgust for this paper and reporter. The Northcoast Tribune Clevelands oldest and largest newspaper the largest in the state of Ohio,  doing their best to raise fears in the city, to incite panic and adding their own views i'm sure to this story.  A paper that will write anything to generate sales at the risk of inducing panic and creating fear.  I have no doubt that this story will cause peoples imaginations to run amok.
